Garmin Just Bought TrainingPeaks. The Questions Every Coach Should Be Asking.

Garmin has acquired TrainingPeaks — so what does that actually mean for coaches who rely on TrainingPeaks to run their coaching businesses?

Right now, the answer is: nobody really knows.

TrainingPeaks isn't shutting down, there's no reason to panic, and Garmin may end up investing heavily in the platform.

But the acquisition does change something important: the incentives behind the company that now owns TrainingPeaks.

In this video I look at some of the questions I think TrainingPeaks coaches should be asking:
  • Will TrainingPeaks remain device-neutral?
  • Could pricing or packaging change?
  • Will the product retain the same focus inside Garmin?
  • And most importantly, who becomes the primary customer over time — coaches or athletes?
My view isn't that TrainingPeaks coaches should immediately leave.

It's that the best time to understand your alternatives is before you need one.

A special offer for TrainingPeaks coaches

If you want to explore Training Tilt, we're currently offering TrainingPeaks coaches:

✅ Free supported migration of your workout library, athlete data and training history

✅ An extended 8-week free trial, so you can run Training Tilt and TrainingPeaks side by side

✅ A 1-on-1 onboarding call

✅ Device-neutral integrations with Garmin, Wahoo, Polar, COROS, Suunto, Zwift and Strava

Training Tilt is a coach-only platform. We don't sell subscriptions directly to athletes. We've been self-funded and profitable since 2014, and our business depends on building software that works for coaches.
